Love, life and loss .....

Well time has gotten away from me again...as usual !! Life has been busy, joyous, hard and ruthless on us in the last bit since I have written here.  I had intended for this blog to be a place where I could show my families achievements and have a place for myself to be accountable for the things I want to do and the dreams I have for myself , my home and this farm we are growing here.

My father in law passed away last year on Fathers Day, we knew it was coming, it had been coming for a long time, but it was so surreal when it actually happened.  Our saying for Roderick was that he was "tougher than boiled owl ", we hoped he could have stayed with us forever.  But such is life.  He has passed on many of his traits to his grandchildren, which I am thankful for but sometimes the stubbornness is EXHAUSTING !!!!!

We also lost our old boy Roman, he was my first baby.  I had that cat for longer than I have been with my husband for longer than my children have been alive.  Cancer is an awful thing, whether it is in the human world  or the animal one.

Even in death, life keeps moving.  Taking us with it, keeping us going and teaching us lessons along the way.  We have had ups and downs for sure, but I have learned what is so important in this life we live.  OURSELVES !  We are important, we are somebody's someone.  We are our mothers daughter, our fathers son, our daughters mother, our husbands wife......we are love and hope and promise and we are sadness and anger and despair.  We are everything all thrown in to a vessel of sorts and shaken up and set off to figure out life with no instructions.  We are all just trying to figure it out the best way we know how to at the time and I hope that for everyone they have things they love around them and in there hearts on this trip.  Because without LOVE this would be a lonely life indeed.

So go hug someone, hug yourself, hug your kid, your cat, your dog.  Go smell a flower, stick your feet in the dirt and just feel that moment, take a breath and move forth, knowing that you are destined to do something great because you are yourself and that is who you need to be for you and for those around you.  Keep being you !!!!
