awaiting the harvest

Well i am looking out my window and i am actually seeing the SUN....gasp, i almost forgot what it looked like and how it felt on my face!!

Today my husband, myself and our 2 boys took a "road trip" to a wonderful place today.  We went to Natalies house to deliver some 38 plants ranging from tomato plants of various heirloom background to national pickling cucumbers and gypsy peppers.  Wow, what a place, it is a bit of the beaten path(to say the least), it is a property after my own heart and they have chickens.  The chickens made william very happy he tried very hard to catch and hug them, without much success, so he helped to carry plants, played with the garden hose and jumped in a puddle or two.  Honestly what more could a boy want??

While at Natalies we saw all the things they have ready for planting and some things getting ready for picking (the greens looked delish).  It reminded me a bit of my own place, there is always something waiting to be planted, loved, watered then picked and enjoyed.  I have already been planning a few things to do with my tomato harvest......Tomato sauce, i even bought heirloom seeds just for this purpose they are called Mama Leone's, they are a paste tomato that i purchased from Owen Bridge (who is an amazing force, but more on him later).  I would also like to try making ketchup but as processed as it is i am a Heinz girl!!  I would also like to make jams and jellies(blueberry cinnamon and strawberry rhubarb, for sure) enough for my family and close friends and put up some pickles and such.  I have been stockpiling mason jars in all sizes since last year.

I know i won't be making pickles and jams for a few more months, so i guess i will have to bide my time with beet greens, bok choy , pearl lettuce, chard and WEEDS.

Happy planting, weeding and harvesting to all my gardening people out there!!
